Great Eastern Hotel Case Study

Client:

Great Eastern Hotel

Who they are:

A large design - led hotel located in the City of London with 5 restaurant outlets and a members’ bar.

Duration:

Late 1999 - present.

Objective:

To devise, execute and maintain an integrated and innovative music strategy throughout the hotel, restaurants and bar.

What we did:

Prior to opening, Music Concrete worked closely with senior management and creative teams to establish a music policy that would reflect and enhance the hotel’s design aesthetic. Individual playlists were produced for the hard disk playback systems that were specified for restaurant outlets and public areas. Guest CD libraries were compiled and built. Music Concrete developed a stand-alone strategy for the members’ club that included regular DJs and custom produced music mixes. Following the Hotel’s opening, we established regular monitoring systems to ensure the music and sound quality stayed consistently high. It is crucial, when dealing with a relatively complex organisation such as this, to establish clear channels of communication with the Hotel’s management thus allowing issues relating to day to day music operations to be dealt with in an efficient manner.

Result:

The Great Eastern Hotel now has a reputation for the most innovative music of any hotel in the UK. It successfully caters to business/corporate guests during the week, while at the weekend it has become the base for some of London’s most fashionable club nights with live shows by cutting edge musical acts. It is quite simply without equal.
